AOTW: The OF tape, Vol 2

odd future, also known as ofwgkta, is a rap group formed in EARLY 2007 in los angeles. founded by tyler, the creator, the group was known for their clothing brand "golf wang" that still drops clothes to this day, their extremely "edgy" and sometimes questionable music, intense moshpit heavy concerts that would leave them banned from venues (and even countries), and the late television show: loiter squad, that aired on adult swim. 

the group's musical talent combined with their natural humour, chemistry, and skateboard skills amassed a cult following in the early underground scene. members tyler, earl sweatshirt, mike g, and hodgy beats began making music, collaborating with artists like syd, jasper, and domo genesis before all joining the group. their initial mixtape dropped in 2008, followed by their second mixtape, radical in 2010. as their popularity rose, they prepared to drop their debut studio album: The of tape, vol 2. 

the collective's album delivered as expected: edgy, whimsical songs like rella (the music video makes zero sense), melodic rythms with the help of syd the kid, and mentions of ego death as tyler raps about the death of his alter ego, sam, in the song titled sam (is dead).  

although the entire project isn't the ultimate display of the group's talent, the universal fan-favourite of the album is the final song, oldie, that features verses from almost all odd future members, including earl sweatshirt, frank ocean, left brain, hodgy beats, with tyler opening, and closing the 10 minute long cypher, reminding listeners that odd future is not only talented, but radical (as heck).

the group eventually disbanded in 2015, with many members going on to have successful solo careers in music, film and other forms of art, with frank ocean and tyler the creator even winning grammy awards for their individual projects such as channel orange, cmiygl, and chromakopia. though ofwgkta as a group is no more, their impact on the culture as a whole has remained for years, with the hype of the supreme brand, skateboard culture, and inspiring young ones to live life to the max, take risks, and be extravagant, radical even.
